How to get Philippines Passport?

Philippines Passport

Passport is an official document issued by a government, certifying the holder's identity and citizenship and entitling them to travel under its protection to and from foreign countries.

How to get one? This is applicable to new passport and renewal passport.

First, you have to get an appointment from the DFA through this link
Walk-in applicants are not entertained by the DFA office. So don't waste your time trying your luck and go without an appointment. This is because your name will be checked by the officer at the entrance to ensure that you have an appointment that day. If you go to DFA without an appointment, you will be scheduled by the DFA for another day to process your application. Unless you are a senior citizen or a person with a disability then you don't need an appointment, instead, you will get a priority lane.

Postal ID
After having a successful appointment, prepare your documents like Birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and valid picture IDs
You can refer here for the list of requirements for new applications and here for passport renewal. If you are a new applicant, one thing that you must have as valid primary ID is the new improved postal ID. You can get that at your municipal's post office. I took a photo of this posted at the DFA Tuguegarao which proves that postal ID is one of the main ID required in getting a passport.

Next, you must be present at your scheduled date of appointment. Otherwise, you will get another appointment from the DFA. Get ready for your requirements and your payment.
Then, queue at the DFA for verification. If you pass that, queue for the processing, next is the payment and last is the encoding.

Finally, after encoding, taking pictures and fingerprints you will be given the receipt that you will use to pickup your passport after 7 days for rush processing or after 20 working days regular processing. You may also opt to get your passport via LBC delivery wherein you will pay Php 150.00 for the delivery charge. This is especially to those who are far from the DFA office.

LBC will give you the schedule where you may get your passport at LBC branch or they will deliver at your doorstep.

NOTE: Please wear semi formally when going to DFA office. You won't step in when you are wearing sleeveless blouses and slippers. This is an office, not a park, not a bar either.

God bless!
